Folk Bullock Cart Toy — Multicolor

A miniature thela — the humble wooden cart that has carried Indian markets for centuries — hand-turned and painted in the Channapatna folk tradition. The canopy is a bright patchwork of red; blue; green and yellow lacquer; the wheels turn freely on metal axles. Sized for small palms but cared for enough to sit on a shelf as a quiet object too.

A screen-free playmate; a return gift with a story; or a small piece of village India for the city desk.
