Water-Carrier Nesting Doll (Set of 5) — Handcrafted in Varanasi

It captures the daily ritual of fetching water that has shaped Indian village life for centuries, turned into something you can hold, open, and pass from hand to hand. Made on the lathe by an artisan from Varanasi — the holy city on the Ganga, and home to one of India's oldest wooden-lacquer toy traditions.

The red saree and folk detailing are worked by hand and sealed in natural lac; the form is rounded and warm, the finish soft to the touch. Every piece is turned and painted by hand, so small variations in colour and grain are natural — the mark of genuine craft.
