A horse head wall mount from the woodworking ateliers of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh; carved from seasoned Indian hardwood and hand-painted in vermilion red with yellow and green folk accents at the eyes; mane and bridle. The horse is a recurring figure in Indian folk decor — of journeys taken and journeys to come. Mounted above a console or a doorway it brings a quietly ceremonial note into the room.
