An eight-inch standing elephant with upturned tusk; hand-turned on the lathes of Channapatna and finished in a layered duotone of golden yellow above olive green; with red folk-paint detailing across the face. The raised tusk reads as a sign of welcome and abundance. Coloured with vegetable dyes and sealed with beeswax; the piece deepens with handling. Substantial enough to anchor a console table; warm enough to live easily on a study shelf or in a puja niche.
