An eight-inch standing elephant with upturned tusk; hand-turned on the lathes of Channapatna and finished in a deep olive green with folk-paint accents in red and yellow. The raised tusk is read as a sign of welcome and abundance. Coloured with vegetable dyes and sealed with beeswax; the surface deepens with handling. Substantial enough to anchor a console table or sideboard; warm enough to live easily on a study shelf.
