Gajraj Handcrafted Rajasthani Elephant — Olive (Up-Tusk; 8")

An 8-inch standing elephant with its tusk turned upward — a sign of welcome and abundance. Substantial and self-possessed, carrying the calm authority of the village elephant. Hand-turned and painted in the folk tradition of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, the body finished in deep olive green with folk-paint accents in red and yellow.

The colour and soft sheen come from lac — melted onto the wood on the spinning lathe in Rajasthan's centuries-old lakh tradition, and burnished to a natural glow. No synthetic lacquer. Every piece is turned and painted by hand, so small variations in colour and grain are natural — the mark of genuine craft.

The surface only deepens with handling. Substantial enough to anchor a console or sideboard, yet warm enough to live easily on a study shelf.
