A six-inch standing elephant with upturned tusk; hand-turned on the lathes of Channapatna; with a green head; orange body and yellow saddle. The raised tusk reads as a sign of welcome and abundance. Coloured with vegetable dyes and sealed with beeswax; the piece feels warm in the hand and carries the gentle authority of the village elephant.
