Description+
Lathe-turned in the Channapatna tradition of Karnataka, this multicolour elephant brings the bright, festive palette of South Indian folk paint into the home. Layers of vegetable dye in saffron, yellow and rose are applied while the wood spins on a hand-cranked lathe, then sealed with beeswax to a soft glow. The raised trunk is a gesture of welcome and abundance. Place it on a study shelf, a mandir ledge or a child's reading nook — a small, warm reminder of the slow craft of Karnataka.
