Gajraj – Handcrafted Elephant Stool 10 inch | Rajasthani Folk Art — Green & Yellow

A ten-inch standing elephant, broad-backed and sturdy enough to serve as a low side perch — for a trailing plant, a brass lamp, or a stack of books. Equal parts sculpture and small furniture. Hand-turned and painted in the folk tradition of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, with deep green legs, sunny yellow ears, and red folk detailing worked across the body.

The colour and soft sheen come from lac — melted onto the wood on the spinning lathe in Rajasthan's centuries-old lakh tradition, and burnished to a natural glow. No synthetic lacquer. Every piece is turned and painted by hand, so small variations in colour and grain are natural — the mark of genuine craft.

It carries the gentle authority of the village elephant into a contemporary room: substantial, warm, and quietly auspicious.
