Elephant Stool — Vermilion Red

A ten-inch standing elephant; broad-backed enough to serve as a side perch for a plant; a brass lamp or a stack of books. Hand-turned and painted in the Channapatna folk tradition; the body is finished in deep vermilion red with yellow and green folk-paint detailing across the face and ears. Coloured with vegetable dyes and sealed with beeswax; it brings the gentle authority of the village elephant into a contemporary living room. Substantial; warm; quietly auspicious.
